Week 3 - Game 1

No fictional nonsense today, gentlemen - keeping this neat like my whiskey.

At the risk of provoking a jinx, it appears that the weather will cooperate today and provide us the opportunity to get out there and knock the dust off our softball skills.  We've all been waiting for this season to get started and to get back into our groove - let's make sure that we come out ready (at least 2 beers deep per player recommended) and aggressive at the plate and on the basepaths.

Defensively, remember to get the ball into the infield or the pitcher quickly and don't chuck it around the diamond.  Act like you've been out there before.  Drink like you've been out there before.  Don't strikeout like you've been there before.

Push the envelope when on base - in these early season games the other team will be more likely to give chase and throw wildly at aggressive runners.  Take advantage!  Watch out for the depression when you round 3rd base - let's ALL round 3rd base - and there's some damn rule about catchers and making sure you hit them or something.

I leave you with the inspirational message from a team of underdogs half-a-world away:
